The gt-1000 5 shoe features our gel technology for shock attenuation and a more comfortable stride. Mesh panels on the upper increase breathability and support across the forefoot, while cutting down on irritation and blistering caused by traditional overlays, keeping feet cool and comfortable so you can run longer with greater comfort. In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.
I like this shoe. I do something between a very fast walk / light job on a 5% incline 5 miles a day 6 days a week on my treadmill. Since I just got these shoes, I have only used them for one week and have a problem. They are very comfortable and provide good lateral stability. I thought that they were a perfect fit until I noticed that by the end of the week, the shoe had rubbed a small blister about one third of the way up my right achilles tendon. My heel fits nicely in the heel cup, BUT the collar at the top of the back of the shoe is what is rubbing and caused the blister. I did not have this problem with my last pair of Asics.I am going to put some extra cushioning at the site of the blister and try exercising in the shoe again this week. If this does not work and it continues to cause damage to the skin in that spot, I will just relegate them to sneakers that I wear occasionally while out running errands and buy a different brand of running shoe for my daily exercise routine. I'm pretty sure a return is not possible at this point.
