The institution started it all and is back with a new look, softer upper and more responsive ride! The intuition 3.5 retains its lightweight, flexible design and innovative technology that put altra on the map. The foot shape toe box allows your foot to relax and spread out naturally and keeps the big toe straight for more power. Foot pod outsole technology maps the bones and tendons of your foot for natural flexibility and more responsiveness. A top layer of our a-bound energy return compound puts a spring into each step. Lace up into this update and upgrade your run with the new instinct and intuition 3.5.
I used the Saucony kinvara 3 for YEARS as my dedicated road shoe, however the last pair I bought was not a good fit, probably because they're so old and have been out of production for so long so I decided to look for a new road shoe. I use the Altra Lone Peak 2.5 as my trail running shoe and love it so I figured I would give these a try. I use a neutral shoe, my arches are a bit on the high side and I have no need for stability shoes so these have worked out perfectly for me. I did have to ease into them since I went from a 4 mm heel toe drop to Altra's 0 mm heel toe drop and my calves ached a bit at first (as expected when switching to a 0 drop shoe) but after adding more strength training and slowly buillding the mileage on these, the ache went away and I love how they feel on my feet. In the Lone Peak and all other running shoes I've owned, I wear a size 9, however the 9 in this particular model was way too tight, so I returned them and purchased a size 10 since they did not have 9.5 and I was worried they would be too big, but the fit is perfect. Overall I have been happy with these shoes as I am with my trail Altras.Just recently purchased these Intiuition 3.5s. I've gone on two runs so far and they seem great. I normally run in the Altra One 2.5 and was looking for a little more cushioning for skipping rope and running (alternating between the two models). The fit is as expected for the most part. Toe box is slightly different than the One. 2.5 - maybe a tiny bit narrower and shorter, but not to the extent that it bothers me in the least. They still have that nice shape - what I call the "Earth Shoe" shape. I was getting a slight rubbing on one of my heels, so I tied them differently and that did the trick. (Check out the last method on this page: [...] Flexibility is the same as the One 2.5. The sole seems more "grippy" than the One 2.5s also, which I see as a plus. I would say overall, thus far, a great shoe. Finally, the picture on Amazon doesn't do it justice. (I hated the color in the picture but bought the Orchid/Silver because it was the cheapest. The colors are actually pretty nice - orchid more of a nice purple and the silver is lighter than I thought it'd be.Wearing these shoes is like walking barefoot with protection. I feel like my whole foot is involved in each movement. I am not a runner - but I walk (actually ralk - run/walk) about an hour every day. I have had foot surgery on one of my feet - a couple times - so if you look at my two feet at the same time they look like they belong to two different people. One is over an inch shorter than the other. That one is also fatter. So, Imagine finding shoes that feel good on both feet....not an easy feat (pun intended). I will never buy another ralking shoe - I am hooked. I wear them around the house also - don't want to take them off. Thanks to my son for turning me on to them. I only have one suggestion for the company if they are reading - the pamphlet you provide mentions several foot/leg issues that runners may have and how to correct them - but it fails to mention why the foot/leg issues exist or why the corrections work. Elaborating would provide more information and be more interesting to the reader. Alternatively, take out the whole blurb?I love Altra footwear. The Intuition were the forth pair I purchased. Altra's look different then your traditional athletic shoe, because of their zero or low drop and wide toe box design. I used mine for long distance walking, and wearing as my everyday shoe. The wide toe box works great allowing your toes lots of freedom. On my long distant walks there was never any crowding or discomfort when feet started to swell. The intuition has a medium amount of cushioning in comparrison to other Altra shoes. I found the higher cushioned designs did not wear as well and broke down, and the lower cushioned ones were not comfortable for long distant walking. For me the Intuition struck a good balance. I have worn these everywhere and they still feel great. If you have never worn a zero drop shoe before you may have to take your time getting use to these as your muscles stretch and adapt to no rise in your shoe.I bought these shoes to replace an existing pair of the same make/model that I loved. I wear a 10.5 Women's in these, although my "regular" (non-athletic shoe) shoe size is a 9.5. I know that in athletic shoes you usually go up a half size, so I would say if you're not sure, go up a little more. These shoes are ideal for people with a wide forefoot -- toe box is very roomy. My ideal footwear is the "barefoot" variety, but I need more support than that. I wear these all day, every day. Note that this is a zero-drop (meaning your heel and toes are at the exact same level) shoe; most athletic shoes have at least a 4 mm drop, some as much as a 12 mm drop (meaning the toes are 0.2 - 0.5 inches lower than the heel). This is my fourth pair of Altra Intuition shoes, second pair of Intuition 3.5. My second toe does not appear to be longer than my big toe yet I have had trouble with sneakers as that toe ends up getting very sore and once after a very long walk the toe was so sore the nail eventually fell off. I did some research and Altra shoes were mentioned often for comfort. I bought a half size larger than I normally wear this time and it seems to be even better than the previous Intuitions that I own. I don't have narrow feet, medium to wide and these shoes are very comfortable. I liked them so much my husband bought a pair and now he's up to 5 pairs. My only complaint is they use to include two different insoles but no longer do that. Highly recommend!I love these running shoes. The fit is smaller than expected for the size, but I followed the manufacturer and other reviewers recommendations and purchased 1/2 size up from my usual running shoe and they are perfect. They have a very nice cushion/support. I have been a faithful saucony runner for years, but recently my bunion has really been painful. These Altra shoes have diminished the symptoms from my bunion during and after my runs. I also purchased the Altra one 2.5, which are cute an look like a bowling shoe, but do not have as much cushion, so I prefer not to run in them and only wear them for running errands, etc. I would recommend
