Ok shoe shoppers....I looked at multiple sites and reviews. I don't love buying shoes online. Many for Salomon said "runs large". Their website instructions for measuring foot put me at an eight... I wear a nine OR 91/2 depending on shoe and maker/company!!I did not believe it, but ordered down to the 9. (My Brooks Pure Grit are a 9 1/2).That was the right thing to do for THESE Salomons. They came today, and I am wearing them around the house.Things to know (that I looked for in reviews):1. You could run across a rock glacier in these, or the moon, the support feels amazing.2. ...only a small, tad, itsy, bit-- left in toe box for toe (THE RIGHT AMOUNT---not too much). This is also hard to tell with this model as it has a kick-ass cleated toe which looks like it can boot rocks, boulders, sticks, annoying citizens, or stub toe and not feel it--PLUS, trail runners I hear you don't want a squashed toe in a small shoe on downhill (I've had that happen in the Vancouver Mts, not fun). (and---seen opening or read book for WIld- the movie?)3. I teach, so standing all day, well, I hope to double these on trail with days when I need comfort, not style, and PLUS, the color and look IS AWESOME so it is an amazing shoe for teaching, standing, and maybe being appreciated by the tough middle school crowd for fashion, if it mattered--, too.4. Feels great for day hiking also. The stubs on bottom--I can see that treadmills and road are wasted on this shoe-- which is why I will not use it there, reviews state as well.GREAT support. Kick-butt shoes. And I haven't run yet.Closure system seems to stem from triathalon quick on/off.I like it, however. I tried to sign up for a triathalon right after I bought these just to , er, try, but it was closed to the real, training people who signed up planning ahead of cool new shoes). In short?Love. DO get a half size under your TOP size, I think. (I got the 9 and 9 1/2 is my max size, I did NOT go to 8 1/2, it would be too small I see from wearing these). When I hike and run finally after the in-house test, I will update if I remember. But, so far, SO comfy.I'm considering a second pair (yes, greedy, first-world moi--one thing I will spend on is health, wellness and FEET) to STAND in when I teach at a school all day ---in a second groovy color....so I can make excuses to run in these exclusively. Or,to run best at lunch break and fire drills?LOVE.
