In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

They are NEON and I mean NEON, IN YOUR FACE pink. They are SO VERY MUCH BRIGHTER than I expected them to be. I can't stress this enough, if you eschew bright colors and don't want to stand out, these are NOT the color for you. When I opened the box, I said "oh GOD, no!" However, I decided to give them a shot as they are totally different than anything I have ever worn before in terms of color on the feet, and I have gotten several compliments in the past 2 days on the color. They are sort of growing on me- the color definitely has put a little more 'pep in my step' LOL. They are fun to wear. I can only wear them with thin socks. I am always a size 8, so that is what I ordered. The first time putting them on, I thought they felt too tight. Give them a chance, though because they go on tight but then they feel as though they should- made for your foot. I don't think I would have gone up to an 8 1/2. They DO provide excellent ankle support so that is a great thing and once they are on and you stand up in them and start walking around, they are SOOOOO SO much more comfortable! Again, they felt a bit tight at first, but these are a true running shoe so they are not going to feel like a cross trainer or an UGG (that I've been wearing to survive this past winter!) They were a very fair price and they're really super cute. Nice and light as well. I will also say, and this is BIGGIE for me because I have chronic back pain- my back has not felt this good in YEARS since I started wearing these shoes. I definitely recommend. My first pair of Aasics and they did NOT disappoint! They will not be my last either!I am a 3rd grade teacher at a school with a ton of steps, my room is on the 4th floor. I am usually at school from 7am-6 or 7pm. I run around all day and I am on my feet all day and if I wear flats my feet hurt so bad at the end of the day. I'd rather sacrifice having cute shoes to be an efficient and happy teacher. I got these because I have a purple pair of ASICS that I love and wanted a pair of all black shoes that I knew would be comfortable (the same size as my other ASICS fit well). These are perfect, I like how they are all black (a lot of other black shoes have some accents or reflectors on them) so they blend in and its not very noticeable I am wearing sneakers (I wear black pants most days), but most importantly they are comfortable and I've never once had pain in them, even after the end of a 12 hour day of being at school. They held up great for the past 8 months, until now when my puppy decided to use them as a chew toy, now are a little frayed on the sides and I will definitely be ordering a new pair.I'm a size 9 (occasionally a half-size down or up) over-pronator with a wide forefoot and an average heel, so I look for stability, motion control, and arch support in a running shoe in a wide size (D). I've had good experiences with some men's Asics in a medium width, but I liked the looks of this women's shoe so much that I decided to try it. I do love the looks, but alas, the D size isn't a true wide, which I can usually wear: while the size-9 length of these fits me well, both the toe box and midsection are so narrow that the shoe is too snug even with thin socks. They are extremely breathable because they're mesh, but because of that I'm not sure they'd stretch enough even with a professional stretcher to be wearable with crew socks, and they'd be quite uncomfortable to work out in.Correction: I got these in a size 9.5. So even though I'm normally a size 9, that would be way too tight in this shoe. Also, perhaps because they're all-mesh, they don't offer as much stability and cushioning as most of the Asics I've had, which is surprising, considering that on another website the manufacturers says they're "Built for mild to moderate overpronator who requires a blend of enhanced cushioning and stability." I didn't notice either one. I would have loved to be able to keep these shoes, but I'll have to return them and either go back to wearing men's sneakers or find something in a true wide.PROS: Beautiful shoe, good price, looks great if you can wear it.CONS: Not a true wide even if labeled "D"; less cushioning and compensation for pronation than some descriptions indicate.I love Asics. They are pretty much the only shoe brand I wear- mostly because of narrow feet and working in a hospital with lots of walking. I've come to really, really like Asics. I think I went a little cheap on this shoe instead of biting the bullet and buying my favorite shoe- the GT-2000. May need to return and just buy the 2000.Pro:1) I like vibrant colors, especially when wearing scrubs. This is a standout.2) Fits as expected, good narrow shoe.3) Reliable brand. I know that these shoes will last a long time.Cons:1) I miss the cloud-like feeling on my feet from the gel inserts. Seriously, once you find those shoes that you're like "Ahhh oh my gosh this feels amazing" you can never go back.2) The back of the shoe, right above the ankles is pinching a little. Not too uncomfortably, but if this is the best shape the shoe is in before I use itand abuse it, I'm a little nervous. That's my review so far. I just got them in the mail today. Will still decide if going to keep or return. These shoes were recommended to me at a running store. I did a fitting and this is what they recommended. I like them when I am running. But for me (narrow feet, flat footed, no arch) they are not comfortable just to wear walking around or doing anything but running. Which is unfortunate because they are not cheap. But maybe that means I will use them for the purpose I bought them, running, and not wear them out doing other stuff. When I am walking for some reason my feet feel heavy and it feels like I am walking uphill. Yesterday I wore them while I was on the elliptical and it was making my feet hurt. I kind of felt like the arch was in the wrong place. I can't say that running (on a treadmill) feels any better. Even so I don't have buyers remorse. But I don't know if I would pay this much for a pair of tennis again. I previously wore New Balance and love them as a tennis shoe brand. I think I am going to stick with them for my next pair of running shoes.
