These shoes are a great alternative to traditional cleats. The only negative about them is that the laces seem to not last long. I wore them for less than a season before they looked like they are going to fall apart. I bought some turf shoes that I have been wearing for about 3 years and now I switched back to these. To be fair, the lace has not pulled yet, but I have holes in them already in the toe box.I have duck feet--a really narrow heel but a wide forefoot. Good fitting shoes are hard to come by. I normally have to buy Wide sized shoes and the art of lacing properly definitely helps with heel slippage. I am a textbook size 9W and purchased this shoe in a 10 to allow for all my special needs and it is a perfect fit. I learned this with a quality fitting at a shoe store. This is my fourth pair of speedcross style models from Salomon and I also own a pair of hikers in this brand that work for me. I have excruciating plantar fasciitis in both feet, and high arches. I walk at least 2 miles for fitness each day and do a lot of longer walking/hiking when I travel. This particular shoe is great for wet, muddy and slippery terrain and I've worn it for outdoor HIIT in bad weather too. The arch support and heel cup out of the box are quite supportive. I also add a Pedaq rigid arch support (mini) also available here on Amazon, underneath each of the factory provided insoles. This gives me rigid feedback in my arch which I very much need. This is not a "feels like a cloud shoe" with mushy cushioning. It is more rigid and highly supportive. The heavy lugs take getting used to but they provide excellent traction. It's a very stable shoe and surprisingly light considering the weatherproof materials and lug sole. I have a love-hate relationship with speedcross lacing. I love being able to cinch it down nice and tight around my skinny ankles and narrow heel but when I do the length of the leftover cord drags on the ground (yes that narrow). There is a ribbon on the top of the shoe to tuck the excess cord into but I struggle with keeping it there so I do have to knot up the cords to keep from tripping over them .I just purchased this particular model but my previous all weather versions have held up fantastically. As a point of comparison I bought a very expensive pair of Brooks this summer --and while they feel great the fabric elements are already falling apart long before they are actually worn out :( My Salomons always last and I'm hoping this model does the same.I live in Hawaii and I have found typical hiking shoes just aren't appropriate for the landscape here. I needed something flexible, light, and with tread that can grip dirt, gravel, rock, clay, and wet tree roots. You can go from tropical rainforests to scaling vertical clay on the same hike, so versatility is crucial.I ordered these Salomon Speedcross 4 in black. I am typically a size 10-10 1/2, but as we all know, different manufacturers size slightly different. I read the reviews about these shoes being true to size and comfortable, so I chanced the 10. My feet are a little wide at the toe box area due to previous broken toes, but the rest of my foot is narrow with moderately high arches. So far these shoes fit great!! I love the quick-lace mechanism. This makes adjusting my laces throughout my hike fast and easy, and I especially love the ability to hide the remaining lace in the tongue pocket! This stops it from snagging and catching. The length of shoe is perfect and still gave me about a 1/2" of space, so no rubbing. The toe box seems perfect, but I will have to try out a few more hikes before confirming that. These are also narrow enough for my feet as the top of the shoe did not meet in the middle as so many do.I took this out for a spin to test them out on a mountain trail here.. it was a 3 1/2 mile trail hike that has mud, climbs, and some loose dirt areas. These were perfect! The grip and tread did not slip on any of the roots or the clay. I will test them out on another trail I frequent to see how they do on the wet roots there.I have to say, I love these shoes so far. They hit all the marks that I needed and without all the bulk of other shoes. Thank you!!!Seriously my absolute favorite shoe I’ve ever owned. I love these!!! These fit true to size. I wear a 6 in every other shoe and bought a 6.They accidentally sent me a 6.5 so I returned and they immediately fixed it by sending a 6. Returning was so easy and I got my true size within 3 days. I bought them for running as I am an avid runner and they are the best running shoe I’ve ever owned!! And I’ve owned just about every running shoe out there.I also work as a courier and needed an all black tennis shoe for work. So I wear these daily! Let me just say, they are the most comfortable shoe for being on my feet all day. I have narrow feet as it is, so these fit me perfectly. But I would assume they would just hug the mid section of your foot for anyone else. If you ABSOLUTELY need a wide toe box, I would maybe recommend sizing up or going with a shoe that has a wider toe box, however you could always try these and return if they don’t work. (I just think everyone should give these a shot)I have high arches so I’d love more arch support but they still have plenty of support for regular arches. I’ve worn them in the rain and my socks and feet stayed bone dry. I also have to walk and run through sand, dirt, and mud constantly and these have held up through it all! I was so impressed! I’m absolutely obsessed with them and have gotten several compliments. 10000% recommended to anyone considering this shoe. This is a great shoe. Highly recommend it. Comfortable and vary light weight. The only recommendation I’d say I’d have to suggest to the manufacturer is that the make the souls of a more durable material. Bottoms of the she wore out rather quickly. Just depends on how much one uses them. I was running an average of 6-8 miles a day in these and ware them out in just under 8 weeks. I recommend the series five. Little bit different design and the heel design is little more supported. Da fühle ich mich betrogen!I’m usually a size 4.5 so I ordered a 5 and they fit perfect.I am a busy dog walker who walks miles and miles every week. I’ve had mine for months now and from the day I got them I’ve worn them to death. They never ever rubbed me and are SO comfortable. The grip is fantastic and they look great on. I love the quick lace idea so I don’t have to faff with laces and they never come loose. My ONLY downside is that they aren’t waterproof (which it doesn’t say they are anyway so I won’t give any less stars). Now the grass is getting wet/dewy I can no longer wear them ( boo hoo)because my feet end up soaked. They will have to come back out next year or on very dry days.No lo compres! No es de recibo que duren menos de un año. Las fotos lo stestiguan.I took the advice of other purchasers of this particular shoe and ordered a half size higher, I usually take 7.5 and ordered an 8. These are the comfiest, best-fitting training shoe I've ever bought, and I believe me, when you get to 60 years of age, you've purchased a few pairs of training shoes. Would highly recommend this shoe.I purchased what I thought was the correct sizing for the shoe, but the fit was all wrong - right foot was too tight and the left shoe seemed to have a hard foam at the arch that made the shoes very uncomfortable to wear for more than a few seconds. My feet aren't flat so I'm unsure why this was an issue. The ankle height is aso a little shorter than I am comfortable with (or the shoes are too firm and have a pronounced feeling at the ankle that was noticable.. maybe you'd get used to it though.)However, the shoe seems very sturdy and probably good for trails - I wouldn't run in them on the road as the tread is really pronounced (like wearing mini-platforms), and the sole is pretty hard (not flexible like road runners) so you'd need a separate set of runners for that - just in case someone was thinking they could use the same shoes for both ;)
