We stand for something bigger than sneakers. We champion those who are fearlessly driven by their passions. We elevate sport. We do right by people and the planet. Together, we drive meaningful change in communities around the world. We Got Now. New Balance, is dedicated to helping athletes achieve their goals. It's been their mission for more than a century. It's why they don't spend money on celebrity endorsements. They spend it on research and development. It's why they don't design products to fit an image. They design them to fit. New Balance is driven to make the finest shoes for the same reason athletes lace them up: to achieve the very best.
If you are like me, you've been hunting for the replacement of the 1123's. You suffered through the 1540's first version...your feet told you misery on those 1540's, you still have a old pair of 1123's that have at this point been shoe goo-ed together as your emergency back up. Look no further then 1080 Fresh Foam. I'm on my feet 9 hours a day on concrete floors, I'm driving a car a hour each direction to and from work, I live in my shoes and I demand a lot of them. I demand comfort, I demand they hold up to concrete, i demand that I can swap insoles as needed, I demand the out sole last at least a year. I can tell right away if the shoe is going to make my foot happy. Bad news I'm a womens size 12 2E, the nearest store for me to try on ANY shoe my size is 5 hours away in good traffic, and clear across my state, so I have to order my shoes online and cross my fingers. In this case it paid off. I slid my feet in and it was comfort, the foam help mold to my foot, giving support to the tearing planter fascia, but comfort to the bone spur on the heel, and plenty of wiggle room for my toes in a nice wide toe box. If you have a broad forefoot, these are great. Down side I wish the heels of the uppers were a little higher, if you swap out for a insole for planter fascia, every step no matter how tight you lace the shoe your heel pops up above the collar. So I had to give up my special insole, but at 2 months on the shoe with just the Fresh Foam insole provided, its comfort and supported quite well. These are the shoes they should have marketed after the 1123's, these are the closest shoe to them in terms of durability, comfort and support. It may not have a rollbar, but these work great. Much less wear on the outsole with 2 months in, other shoes I've had from NB have become pretty much racing tire slick in that time frame. These still have good traction, but don't get excited, I still wouldn't run in the rain with these things, they aren't that grippy, even when new they weren't that great. update: As of May 11th, still has excellent tread on it but the sole itself has completely collapsed to the outside(I over supinate). So that didn't last as long as expected, shoes are still comfortable, the insole itself is still in excellent condition, uppers are still in fabulous condition. Soon as I have the cash to buy them again I will be.The last version i purchased NB's 1080 was v2. I wore other running shoes since then. To this day version 2 is my all time favorite running shoe, the perfect running shoe for me. I normally wear a 7.5 M in any athletic shoe. Non- athletic shoes: I normally wear a 7m or 7w since my feet are a touch wide. As usual when shopping online, I purchased two sizes of 1080 v6 to be safe, 7m and 7.5m. 7.5m fit best so these shoes are true to size. The only minor issue and initial hesitation in keeping this pair is the heel slipped a smidge. Looking at my old v2 pair (use for gardening, still can't get around throwing those away) i noticed the new version's heel height is noticeably shorter. (Same with the new version NB Leadville trail running shoes which REALLY heel slip so i returned both sizes in that item as both sizes didn't work. Can new balance adjust newer versions and raise the heel height again???? Super bummed I have to find a trail running shoe replacement as I've bought leadvilles for a very long time). Thanks to my boyfriends advice to seal the deal in getting a new pair of running shoes, I went to a running store to get my feet sized and have them recommend some shoes. Luckily i had an honest sales person at the local running store.Sure enough I was sized: 7.5m, recommended cushioning shoe type (vs stabilized) and comfort level 4-5.After trying some pairs on i mentioned to the sales rep my favorite pick at the store was just like this pair that arrived yesterday: Both slipped a little bit. He's the one who told me i could tie my shoes up using the last notch with a running knot. And he was honest in that this would solve the problem. (It did).I tried on the following at the store to compare:Nike (forgot model name) , fit was fineAdidas ultra boost, fit was better than Nike. Would have considered buying.Asics nimbus 18, this was better than Nike and Adidas. Solid overall shoe.Comparing these three to the new balance (which luckily they also had this shoe in store) New Balance was the perfect pair, touch wider toe area than Asics so my feet were EVEN MORE in heaven, just as stable and durable feeling the Asics pair. I'd recommend this shoe as a solid, comfortable running shoe. If it's a touch heel slip like i experienced, try out the running knot on the last rungI was so pleased when these arrived, they're light to wear and so comfortable, look stylish and brightly coloured. But unfortunately after 2 months I noticed a hole appearing on the toe of the shoe, which soon tore bit by bit through the mesh creating a larger one. It seems the black lining of the shoe has come away from the toe and in doing so has just left the thin outer layer holding the shoe together. Unfortunately when I checked the other shoe the lining has also started to come away and winithin a week a hole had appeared on that one too. Was very disappointed. I can still wear them but they look rather tatty with my toe coming through the mesh. Considering the price I wouldn't buy again for them to break in 3 months time.i actually ordered the reg width shoe above by mistake- my fault for ordering late in the evening! The delivery was only 2 days later- amazing service! I knew I'd made the error so returned the shoe straight away, and reordered the wide D fit- received 2 days later!!! Amazing!! I've run 2 marathons in the V5 so hoped the V6 would be as comfy for distance runs. I wore the Shoe for a 10k run to test them out, and they were so comfy. After 2 kids my feet have flattened & widened and these have the widest toe box with enough cushioning for long runs. I had no rubs or sore areas even from the 1st outing- so have ordered a 2nd pair!? Great service from sports shoes unlimited & Amazon.Very comfortable shoesReally comfortable. Advice breaking them in first as rubbed a tiny bit at the back on first use out of the box. Feel supported and can be worn for a while without feeling like you're slowly cooking your feet.I've always worn New Balance running shoes ever since I took up running about fifteen years ago. They are a generously wide shoe which really suit my wide feet. The last three pairs have been an extra wide D fit to accommodate a toe separator that I am now wearing to keep a bunion at bay. I am happy to say that this enables me to continue to run comfortably. The 1080 offers cushioning and support and as a neutral shoe is perfect for the customised orthotics I use.
