I normally wear a 9 (40 European) shoe and 9.5 in athletic shoes. ECCO lists 41 as American size 10-10.5. I ordered both a 40 and a 41 in the hiking/trail shoe, concerned that, if indeed 41 = size 10-10.5, the shoes would be way too big. The 41, as suspected, fits like a 9.5. I'm keeping them and returning the 40/9 because I like a little extra room in the toe when hiking.These are attractive shoes as hiking shoes go and ECCO-comfortable. (ECCO Bioms are made for my feet; narrower heel, higher arch, and medium width through the toes.) Although I'm not sure how practical the colors are for dusty trails. Doesn't matter as comfort comes first.
